2024 Edison Community & Sports Foundation Scholarship Recipients

The Edison Community & Sports Foundation is pleased to present its scholarship recipients for 2024. We honor these students’ demonstrated excellence in scholarship, school and community service as well as accomplishments in sports, leadership and citizenship.

We extend sincere congratulations to them as they join the ranks of Edison alumni and move on to college life. We thank Edison High School faculty, staff and administration for identifying these outstanding Edison High School seniors.

And – many, many heartfelt thanks to you, our donors, for your outstanding and continued support and encouragement of Edison students!


Ayla Carr Pete Guzy Scholarship
Ayla will attend UW Eau Claire and is interested in studying exercise science. She is passionate about sports and education. She was a Spark-Y intern, played volleyball and softball, worked in retail and was active in the National Honor Society.

Cyrus Jones, Pete Guzy Scholarship
Cyrus will study kinesiology at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. He is passionate about education. He was involved in football, wrestling, track and baseball at Edison. Cyrus was in AVID and took IB classes. He was active in the community through his sports teams.

Dakota Johnson, Niles Schulz Scholarship 
Dakota will study psychology at UW Eau Claire and will participate in the pre-chiropractic program there. She played on and was captain of the softball and volleyball teams, while in the IB Medallion program and working as a Starbuck’s barista.

Joshua Lor, Niles Schulz Scholarship
Joshua is headed to Augsburg University to study exercise science and play football. He wants to go to medical school. At Edison, he was captain of the football and track & field teams. He is an IB student and volunteers in the community. He’s also a photographer!

Lewis Duffrin, Guil Parsons Scholarship
Lewis will attend Dickenson College in Carlisle, PA, where he will study education to become a math teacher. He played baseball and volleyball. He helped to create the boys volleyball team! Lewis was active on Green Team and National Honor Society.

Gideon Lubbers, Guil Parsons Scholarship
While he’s not sure where he will attend college next year (UMD, Iowa State, UMTC), Gideon knows that he wants to study engineering. He took PSEO classes at Minneapolis College and was active in cross country, concert band and tech crew.

Malik Alkatout, ECSF Scholarship
Malik will attend the University of North Dakota to study professional flight. He is passionate about running, he bikes and enjoys photography. He was in the IB program and was part of the Green Team and band, as well as Greater Twin Cities Youth Orchestra.

Theodore Bubser, Edison Authors Literary Arts Scholarship
Theo is headed to the University of Minnesota Morris to study sport management. He valued being captain of the soccer team. He volunteered in the community as a skating coach and camp counselor and was active in an urban 4H Club.

Francis Endrizzi, Frank Rog Scholarship
Francis will study kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin Madison. He is passionate about sports and was captain of the basketball and soccer teams. He served the community as a member of the Minneapolis Park & Rec Youth Advisory Council.

Amelia Larson, Art Solz Scholarship
Amelia will attend Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA, where she will study interior design. Art is her focus and she was captain of the tennis, badminton and gymnastics teams. She was an IB student and member of the National Honor Society.

Elija Jones, Art Solz Scholarship
Eli will attend St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. He appreciates that team sports taught him about hard work, setting goals and achievement. He provided community service through team activities. He lettered in football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and track.

David Trout, Wes Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship
David will attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and study business management with an accounting minor. He participated in track & field, cross country skiing, Green Team, National Honor Society and Mississippi Watershed Management Organization.

Diego Perez, Gary and Jane Hagstrom Scholarship
Diego will attend the University of St. Thomas where he will study business finance. His work at Northeast Bank influenced him to study business. Diego enjoys running and biking, and, playing guitar. He ran track at Edison and was in tech production.

Jonathan Sims, Larson Family Scholarship
Jonathan plans to study psychology at the University of St. Thomas, Winona State University or Ohio State. He was active in theatre, track, the Green Team and as a volunteer in the community at his church and Feed My Starving Children.

Deidrick Taylor, Larson Dental Scholarship
Deidrick will study exercise science or logistics at the University of Wisconsin- Superior. He’s passionate about sports and played basketball, baseball and football. He enjoyed drumline, too. He’s been a personal care assistant and summer basketball camp coach.
